Where Mendwell began
Mendwell started in 2019 in Bang Rak after a small group of facilitators noticed a gap — families in Bangkok often needed a calm, neutral space to talk through practical matters, but had nowhere to turn that wasn't a counselling clinic or a legal office. Neither quite fit.
The name comes from the idea of mending slowly and thoughtfully. A seam repaired with care holds longer than one rushed together. The same is true of family communication: steady, patient attention to how a family talks tends to produce more lasting results than a single dramatic intervention.
Today, Mendwell offers facilitated conversation sessions, communication workshops, and ongoing coordination programmes for families at different stages — multigenerational Thai households, expat families navigating distance and difference, and blended families finding their footing after change.
We are not counsellors, therapists, or legal advisors. We are organisers and facilitators who hold a steady space, take good notes, and make it easier for families to hear each other.
Our guiding values
-
Patience over pace
Families move at their own speed. We follow their lead, never push.
-
Balanced facilitation
Every voice in the room carries equal weight. No side is taken.
-
Complete discretion
What families share with us stays with us. We do not discuss sessions outside the room.
-
Practical over prescriptive
We offer structures and tools, not instructions. Families decide what to do with them.

Our standards and approach
Facilitation Training
All Mendwell facilitators have completed formal facilitation training and hold current certifications from recognised professional bodies in Southeast Asia.
Confidentiality Protocol
All participants sign a mutual confidentiality agreement before each session. Notes are shared only with those present. No information is passed to third parties without written consent.
Written Session Records
A concise written summary is prepared after every session and shared with all participants. Records are stored securely and retained only as long as the client relationship continues.
Voluntary Participation
Mendwell does not facilitate sessions where any participant has been pressured to attend. All participation is freely chosen, and any person may pause or end their involvement at any time.
Referral Responsibility
When a family's needs fall outside facilitation — for example, requiring professional counselling or legal support — we say so plainly and can suggest appropriate qualified contacts in Bangkok.
Language Accessibility
Sessions are primarily in English. For families where Thai is preferred or needed, we accommodate this where possible and are transparent about our language capabilities from the first enquiry.
Family facilitation in Bangkok
Bangkok families face a distinct set of pressures: multigenerational households under one roof, adult children living abroad, cultural expectations around hierarchy and respect, and the ordinary weight of busy urban lives. When communication within a family grows strained or fragmented, the effects can reach into work, into health, and into daily wellbeing — though sorting those effects out requires qualified professionals, not a facilitation service.
What facilitation can do is create a structured, neutral space where family members talk to each other rather than past each other. It can produce written agreements a family can refer back to. It can build communication habits that hold even when the facilitator is no longer in the room. Those are practical, organisational contributions — modest in scope, but often meaningfully useful.
Mendwell works from its Bang Rak base and has supported families in Silom, Sathorn, Sukhumvit, and further afield, including families with members joining sessions remotely from overseas. We welcome enquiries from expat families and international households as much as from long-established Bangkok families.
